We are a group of multiethnic and bi/multilingual researchers at the University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau, New Zealand.

  • Professor Stephen May

    Stephen is a Pākehā (White) New Zealand interdisciplinary academic in applied linguistics, education, sociolinguistics and sociology. He has extensive research experience with issues of language, education and diversity, with a particular focus on how to promote and support greater linguistic diversity in schools and higher education. He speaks English and te reo Māori. 

  • Dr Mi Yung Park

    Mi Yung is a Korean female academic who has conducted research on heritage language use and maintenance, and has worked with different migrant groups (e.g. Korean migrants in New Zealand, Southeast Asian marriage-migrant women, and North Korean refugees in South Korea). She speaks Korean and English. 

  • Dr Peter Keegan

    Peter is a Māori academic from Waikato-Maniapoto/Ngāti Porou. He has been living in Auckland since December 2000. His research focuses on Māori education, especially linguistic changes in te reo Māori and measurement/assessment. He speaks te reo Māori and New Zealand English. 

  • Lincoln Dam

    Lincoln was born in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) to a Thai-Chinese mother and a Chinese-Cambodian-refugee father. He speaks Thai and English, and some Khmer and Cantonese. Lincoln’s current research explores the ethics and politics of Asian-Indigenous relations in Aotearoa-New Zealand and other ‘White settler societies’.
